In the spirit of human kind’s joy in significant dates and nice round numbers, I write this entry.
From the soft carpet between my toes and Veggie Booty in my tummy to warm Southern Californian sun in my eyes and the Pacific within reach - it is hard to imagine that a month from today I’ll be moving to the DR Congo. But that’s just what I’ve been doing, imagining and visualizing what it will be like to live in Africa again. I'm remembering past trips with similar circumstances but with a long-term mentality. I can prepare as much as I want, but there are always surprises to be had, growth to grow, lessons to learn.
In that, I am savoring my time here.
It has been beautiful and much needed.
With my one-month mark upon me, I am turning from resting to preparing with more intensity. Daily life is visa applications, vaccinations, medical exams, new boxes for storage, more clothes to Goodwill and many lists.
I love lists.

Dear sweet Courtney,
I am loving you blog! Thank you so much for the updates on your life. We will be praying for you and your up coming journey. Wondering what your communication will be like in the Congo?

I'm excited for you Courtney.
I'm curious to know where you're going in the DRC; perhaps the Northeast?
Ah, thanks Auntie P!
I should have some satellite internet and some running water. We're talking luxury baby!
James!
Thanks man. Yep, Northeast it is. Eight weeks training in Bunia then on to Isiro for the rest of the year (most likely longer).
What are you and your adventurous wife up to these days? Lijiang soon, right?
shut your face!
My first trip with the J-film was to Bunia and Isiro. Spent 5 weeks there. Wild that you're moving there. What a small world!
Yeah, my wife and I moved to LJ ten days ago and are settling in nicely.
I'm excited for you. I'm sure our paths will cross again sometime.
