March in Entebbe

I am sitting at a table with an old Vietnam vet who is writing a book on chimpanzees. However, at the moment, he is taking my requests for Niel Young and John Denver as I work though the last of my work emails. He is now engaged in conversation with this widow who is here with her son’s ex-fiancĂ©’s father who was an international playboy turned travel companion for her since her husband passed. Side note, I want to look like this lady when I am older, she is radiant. They speak of Christians and how they know many atheists who act more Christian than those who claim Christianity. He sings bluegrass and Americana for me, I have told him it will help give me a head start on reverse culture shock. Every song has at least one or two people in the restaurant singing along with him. There are 4 westerners and 5 Ugandans in here. Singing as they check facebook, signing as they watch football, singing as they write blog posts... I woke up this morning , a Wednesday morning, expecting to leave Congo on Friday. Here it is, Wednesday evening and I am having chips and beer for dinner singing along to Margarita Ville. Mmm… I cannot wait to have a good margarita with some proper chips and salsa.

I actually really wanted to sing along with you and the old hippie that time. I decided against it after concluding that I wanted to spare all the guests from my fantastically bad singing. Only the shower should be aware of my lack of talent.

BTW, hope you're doing well.
